Notifications & Alerts
The bell icon in the top bar collects everything that happens around you — replies, mentions, report resolutions, request updates, site announcements — plus two daily digests and your saved-search alerts. All of it is free, no subscription needed.
Saved-Search Alerts
Turn any Browse search into an alert so you hear about new novels that match it.
- Go to Browse and set your filters — category, tags (include / exclude), status, fandom, word-count range, and so on
- Click Notify me
- Give the alert a name (one is filled in from your filters) and save
You can keep as many alerts as you like — e.g. "short completed Xianxia", "fanfiction in a fandom you follow", "long ongoing cultivation novels". When a newly added novel matches one of your enabled alerts, it shows up in your daily discovery digest.
Manage your alerts on the Notifications page — rename them, toggle them on/off, or delete them.
The Two Daily Digests
Instead of pinging you for every event, novel activity is rolled into two once-a-day digests:
- Library updates — new chapters across your bookmarked novels, but only the ones you've marked Reading or Plan to Read. Sent as a separate digest per status so your active reading and your backlog stay distinct.
- New-novel discovery — the day's newly added novels that match your saved-search alerts, with a link straight to a pre-filled Browse page.
Each digest fires once per UTC day and is de-duplicated, so you won't get spammed.
Preferences
Open the bell and use the Preferences section (or the settings on the Notifications page) to control:
- Library updates digest — on/off
- New-novel discovery digest — on/off (turns on automatically the first time you save an alert)
- Feed types — mute general announcements or site-update notices if you don't want them
These preferences are saved to your account, so they follow you across devices. The unread badge on the bell counts every unread notification except the feed types you've muted.
Bell vs. Notifications Page
- The bell shows your most recent notifications and your alert preferences. Digest cards there are trimmed, with a See all link that opens the full item.
- The Notifications page shows your full history and is where you manage saved-search alerts.
