Glossary
The glossary is our term-consistency system for translations. Every novel has one, and it's what keeps character names, places, skills, and key terms stable across thousands of chapters.
Two Types of Entities
- Local — specific to one novel, created automatically during translation
- General — shared across novels in the same genre (e.g., "Dou Qi" applies to all Xianxia/Xuanhuan novels). Can belong to multiple categories
When a chapter is translated, the AI looks up known entities in the glossary, uses them as translation hints, and adds any new ones it discovers.
Viewing the Glossary
- Novel page → click the Glossary button near the heading to see every entity for that novel
- Chapter page → entity names are highlighted in the text (toggleable in Display Settings). Click any highlight to open its dialog
- Browse → Glossary → all general entities sitewide
Editing an Entity
Clicking an entity opens the entity dialog, where you can:
- Change the translation (English name)
- Change the gender (affects pronouns)
- Toggle active / inactive for this novel (whether it's used in translation)
- Toggle general (promote to sitewide)
- Open the Chapter Overrides editor for mid-story changes (see below)
- Generate or view its Codex wiki
Public edits go through Discord-based mod review. Mods' edits auto-apply.
Adding New Entities
From the chapter page, click the add button and type the English name you want. The system finds the matching original-language text automatically and creates the entity. It'll be used in subsequent translations.
Personal Translations
Don't like the official translation? Set your own. It takes effect instantly for you and doesn't need mod approval.
- Open the entity dialog and pick "Set personal translation"
- Your version replaces the public one in chapter text everywhere you read on this novel
- Personal translations get a subtle dashed underline in the chapter text so you can tell them apart from the public glossary
- The dialog shows popular community picks as quick-pick suggestions — adopt one with a click
If 2 or more users settle on the same personal translation, it gets proposed to mods as the new public default. Quietly preferring a better name actually nudges the official glossary over time.
To review or undo your overrides, open the novel's glossary page and toggle the "My Translations" filter.
Mid-Story Overrides
Some changes only kick in at a specific chapter. Two kinds are supported:
- Gender mid-story — for gender-bender novels or characters revealed to be a different gender later. Set "feminine from chapter 50 onwards" without breaking the earlier chapters' pronouns.
- Active / Inactive mid-story — for entities whose name is also a common word: a defeated monster called "Silence" can be active early, then deactivated later so the LLM stops translating "everyone fell silent" as "everyone fell Silence". Multiple flips per timeline are supported.
Open an entity, click Chapter Overrides in the entity dialog, and stack chapter-bounded segments. Mods auto-apply; everyone else's edit goes through Discord review.
Only chapters whose effective state actually changes get flagged for retranslation — no over-flagging.
General Entity Management
A general entity that doesn't fit a particular novel can be excluded just for that novel — go to the novel's glossary page → General tab → exclude. The base general entity stays available for everyone else.
Tips
- Entity detection works best with proper names (2+ characters)
- Single-character entities are treated as context hints — the AI decides from context
- If a name is translated incorrectly, edit the glossary then retranslate the chapter
- The AI won't re-translate already-correct entities on retranslation — only wrong ones get updated
