Frequently Asked Questions
How do I create an account?
Click Login and sign in with Patreon. A paid Patreon subscription is not required -- a free account already gives you bookmarks, reading history, and community tools.
Can I read chapters past chapter 50 for free?
Yes. Past chapter 50, free readers get machine translation (Google Translate) in the browser, run through our entity glossary so names stay consistent. It's instant and free, even signed out.
What's the difference between machine translation and AI translation?
Machine translation is instant and fine for following the plot, but the prose is mechanical. AI translation is smoother and more natural with full glossary consistency, and takes a few seconds the first time.
Which one do I get?
- Any subscriber ($5 Reader and up) -- AI translation on every chapter, always. There's no toggle and nothing to switch.
- Free readers -- chapters 1-50 are AI-translated and free for everyone, and you can switch those between AI and machine translation. Past chapter 50 you read via machine translation; choosing AI there prompts you to subscribe.
See Pricing or How Translation Works.
Why did my machine-translation choice reset?
For free readers that choice lasts the current session only -- it isn't remembered after a refresh.
Can I search for a novel instead of finding the URL myself?
Yes. Search by name on the Request page; results are grouped by novel and show every source it was found on. Free and Reader accounts get 5 searches a month to check availability, Translator Base gets 160 and Translator Pro gets 480. Repeat searches come from cache and cost nothing.
How do I request a new novel?
On the Request Translation page, search by name or paste a link from a supported source and submit. Adding a novel requires Translator Base ($12) or higher. If the source site isn't supported yet, request it on Discord.
How do I know if a source site is working?
The Source Uptime panel on the Request page shows each site's reliability over the last 90 days. If one looks unhealthy, pick another source for the same novel.
What is the difference between a Preview and a Full Translation?
Both use the same pipeline -- same entity consistency, same glossary, same quality. Only the scope differs:
- Preview -- the first 50 chapters only, free for everyone. Good for sampling a novel before spending a full-translation slot.
- Full Translation -- the whole novel is scraped and translated, and costs a request from your monthly quota.
You can convert a Preview into a Full Translation any time from the novel page.
Why did a novel I was reading change from Completed to Ongoing?
One source site labels most of its catalogue complete even when the books are still updating, so we stopped trusting that label. Those novels are ongoing again, and genuine endings are detected from the chapters themselves.
Can I get novels read aloud?
Yes. Browser text-to-speech is free for everyone. Translator Base ($12) and up also get unlimited AI text-to-speech.
Who can generate wikis?
Wiki generation is exclusive to Translator Pro ($25), with 60 per month.
The translation quality seems off. What can I do?
Use the Retranslate button on the chapter page -- it reruns the translation with the latest model and glossary, which usually fixes it. See Retranslate & Rescrape.
Why are some character names or entities wrong?
We keep a per-novel glossary of names, places, and skills, and the initial extraction sometimes gets one wrong. Submit a correction on the novel's glossary page -- see the Glossary System guide.
Can I get notified about new chapters or new novels?
Yes. Bookmark a novel (Reading or Plan to Read) for the daily library digest, and use Notify me on the Browse page to save a search and get a daily discovery digest of matching new novels. See Notifications & Alerts.
How do I report a bug or issue?
Post in our Discord server -- fastest way to get help -- or use the report button on any novel page to flag it to the moderation team.
